Established in 1979, The Johnson Partnership is located in the Roosevelt Neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. We are licensed to practice architecture in Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii and have designed projects in a wide range of locations in these states. In addition to our architectural services we provide environmental planning and historic resources consulting.

The Johnson Partnership was initially formed by Larry E. Johnson, AIA, a Pacific Northwest native, with the idea of serving residential clients who were interested in timeless residential design that would add value to their lives, while emphasizing quality over size, and comfort and warmth over pretension.

Larry's interest and expertise in history, as well as traditional building forms and techniques, also brings greater depth to the firm, allowing the firm to assist with appropriate stewardship of older homes, ranging from Craftsman bungalows to Tudor mansions. However, we are equally comfortable with new construction, state-of-the art technology, and contemporary design.

The Johnson Partnership remains a small practice by intention, attracting and retaining talented professionals who share a commitment to individual service and fine craftsmanship. All residential projects are directed personally by Larry E. Johnson, AIA, or by his associate, Howard M. Miller, AIA. You will have a designated architect, as well as back-up contact to ensure responsive professional service. Your project also benefits from our enthusiasm and shared depth of experience. Additionally, our firm tailors its scope of services to individual clients, rather than a one size for all approach.

Sustainable design has always been a goal for our firm, even years before the term was coined. We keep abreast of new technologies and "green" products and methods that can enhance your project. We are committed to environmental responsibility and incorporate "green" choices into our lives and workspace. Similarly, we are committed to principles of universal design and accessibility.

We have also invested in what we consider the finest architectural software available on the market, allowing us to design within a three-dimensional environment. Our clients are able to see their projects develop from simple sketches to three-dimensional models in early design stages and can direct alternative configurations or design changes we can show them on the fly.

Finally, we take pride in the value we bring to a project and developing a true partnership with our clients - working collaboratively within the firm and with our clients, contractors, consultants, and individual craftsmen to create exceptional projects of lasting utility and beauty.
