The owners of this bungalow in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood love to cook, so we expanded the kitchen while moving it to the rear of the house. The first floor provides spaces for music, living, and dining. We added a home office to the second floor and a third-floor deck that offers fine sunset views.
A new stairway in the center of the house rises to its full height in the open entry hall. Exposed glu-laminated beams and metal railings impart an urban, contemporary character.
The roof utilizes structural insulated panels, maximizing the R-value while minimizing the thickness of the roof.
