Just in time for Halloween, a remodel that was completed last month for a family in West Seattle.
The clients wanted a place to sit outside and be connected with the neighborhood so we enlarged their existing front porch.
The original layout of the main floor of their house was cramped and poorly utilized. We opened the living room to the kitchen, added a fireplace flanked by bookcases and windows, and enlarged the kitchen and replaced the old dining room with a pantry and eating nook. We also added windows to the west wall of the house to get more afternoon sun.
The old entry door opened into a small foyer that faced a landing for the main stairs so we relocated the front door and reconfigured the main stairs to create a more gracious entry. We even found room for a new coat closet
